Glitter Bomb FAQs

I NEED Glitter right now – how do I install it on my WordPress site?

What is Glitter Bomb?

A maximalist WordPress plugin that assaults your site users with particle effects with cursor-following sparkles and full-screen glitter fields. Fully responsive with touch support. WCAG 2.2 AA compliant.

There are two major interactive variations:

  1. Sprinkle Trail
Create particle trails that follow your cursor or mouse on desktop or touch path on mobile devices. Optimized for touch screens with smooth gesture tracking and responsive sizing.
  2. 💫 Particle Field
Transform your entire page into a canvas filled with hundreds of shimmering glitter particles. Confetti particles gently drift, attract to your cursor or touch, and explode into sparkles on click or tap – creating a distracting, physics-based experience that works all devices.

Why did you do this??

Haven’t you ever wondered what the world would be like if GeoCities worked on your phone? I did, and I couldn’t resist the temptation.

Also, because I could! Huge shoutout to Telex and Claude Code!

Does it work on mobile?

Yes! Fully responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile with touch-optimized controls. You can even set different particle sizes for mobile devices or disable effects on mobile entirely if you want.

Is it accessible?

Yes. WCAG 2.2 AA compliant with keyboard navigation, screen reader support via ARIA live regions, visible focus indicators, and automatic respect for prefers-reduced-motion settings.

Can I customize the colors and behavior?

Yes. Choose from six built-in color palettes (Rainbow, Metallic, Neutral Spectrum, Warm Sunset, Cool Ocean, or custom colors) with smooth cycling animations. Adjust opacity, size, speed, particle count, animation behavior, and more.

Should I use “Enable by Default” on every page?

Honestly, no site needs this plugin. But if you’re going to use “Enable by Default,” please do it responsibly. Hero sections and landing pages? Anywhere you want to distract your users…contact forms, checkout pages, or anywhere people need to actually read something? Absolutely not.

Will this slow down my site?

Yes, there’s an inordinate amount of JavaScript to make this work. But I did my best to make it as performant as possible with object pooling, canvas scaling, particle culling, and smart particle limits to maintain smooth frame rates on mobile. It only impacts performance on the pages where the block is loaded – not your entire site.

Does this plugin track me or collect data?

No. Zero tracking, zero data collection, zero analytics. The only thing Glitter Bomb remembers is whether a user turned the effects on or off (stored locally in their browser).

What about physics and interactivity?

In Particle Field Mode, particles use physics-based movement with attraction, drift, and spreading forces. Click anywhere for dramatic sparkle explosions. In Sprinkle Trail Mode, particles follow your movement in either compact trails or scattered patterns.

Can I control where the enable/disable button appears?

Yes. Place the toggle button in any screen corner to match your site layout. You can also customize the text and styles.

Why isn’t there an option to remove the disable feature button?

Because that’s the stuff of nightmares. If you’re going to shove glitter in peoples faces, at least have the decency to allow them to turn it off.

What WordPress version do I need?

WordPress 6.1 or higher, with PHP 7.4 or later.
